When stock prices turn turbulent, you’ll often see a quote from Warren Buffett, Sir John Templeton, or some other seasoned Wall Street professional who has accumulated wisdom, knowledge, and perspective over the years.

But we’d also like to pass along some words of wisdom about investing from a Higher Authority.

We hope these Bible quotes can help you better align your financial decisions with your faith and spiritual values. See if any of these Scripture quotes hold a special meaning for you.

1️⃣ “Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.” Proverbs 13:11

Insight: Several key takeaways are possible from these 14 words. The first is the importance of working diligently and earning wealth through honest labor. And second is why having a strategy can help your long-term personal finances.

2️⃣ “Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth”. Ecclesiastes 11:2

Insight: Dividing and sharing can help you manage hardships if life events don’t go your way.

3️⃣ “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” Proverbs 11:24-25

Insight: A simple concept: Be generous, and you will grow wealthier.

4️⃣ “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” Proverbs 15:22

Insight: The virtue of seeking guidance from others with different viewpoints and insights. Nothing gives us more joy than watching people succeed with their personal finances.

5️⃣ “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Insight: A strong relationship with God cannot be destroyed or stolen. Wealth and possessions are temporary and fragile.

6️⃣ “But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” Luke 14:13-14

Insight: Acts of compassion and generosity will bring spiritual rewards, not material benefits.

These are just a few of the hundreds of Bible quotes that use personal finance to discuss the importance of treating others with kindness, compassion and respect. For us, these quotes are part of the foundation that guide us when we are helping others as they pursue their financial goals.
